From chat context to captured UI evidence
Turn a chat complaint into a UI ticket with evidence
Follow up on the message, capture the actual interface as supported media, and review the finding before it enters the engineering queue.
- ✓Ask for the missing screen and scenario
- ✓Bring supported UI media into Retick manually
- ✓Return the reviewed issue reference through your own process

Make the next step after a chat complaint concrete
A clear route from complaint to evidence
Reproduce the relevant scenario and capture it so the engineering handoff no longer depends on a terse or emotional chat message.
Practical privacy boundaries
Move only the context needed for the UI report, leaving unrelated messages and sensitive conversation history out of the review material.
An explicit human handoff
Review the finding, export approved work, and share the reference manually without implying automatic message monitoring or tracker-thread synchronization.
Use the message as a starting point
A Slack or team chat message such as the new filter is broken rarely includes enough context for engineering work. Ask which screen, account state, action, and result the sender means. Distinguish a reported failure from a request to change the intended behavior. Keep the conversation's uncertainty visible instead of copying a frustrated message into a tracker as if it were a confirmed technical diagnosis or an approved product requirement.
Capture the UI through a supported path
Revisit the relevant interface and capture a screenshot or recording with safe test data. The sender can provide an authorized recording, or a reviewer can use the Retick browser extension to demonstrate the scenario. Import that supported media into Retick and inspect the resulting findings. This workflow does not depend on direct Slack message ingestion, automatic channel monitoring, thread synchronization, or a general chat importer. Carry the useful context across manually and avoid uploading private conversations that are unnecessary to explain the UI issue.
Confirm the report with the sender
Compare the captured behavior with the original complaint. If the sender meant a different filter or account role, obtain a clearer capture rather than expanding the issue by assumption. Add the relevant environment, steps, and intended outcome to the reviewed description. Separate a confusing label from a failed filter action when those require different decisions. Ask the product owner to confirm expected behavior and an engineer to investigate any suspected implementation cause.
Example ticket and acceptance criteria
A useful issue could be Owner filter clears when closing the dropdown. Record the selected owner, the close action, and the result list afterward. Acceptance criteria might require the approved selection to remain visible and the results to stay consistent until the user changes or clears it. Validate that expectation before exporting. Use the configured Trello connection to send the reviewed selection, then manually return the issue reference to the original conversation if your team's process calls for it.
Keep conversation follow-up and fix verification distinct
A reply saying a ticket was created is not evidence that the sender's problem is solved. After development, repeat the agreed scenario on the updated build and ask the appropriate person to inspect the outcome. Retick helps turn captured UI media into reviewable findings and tracker work; it does not automatically read the surrounding chat history or prove a repair. Use direct testing and a clear acceptance owner to close the loop without promising unverified messaging integrations.
Capture the interface behind the conversation
Use supported media, check the finding, and hand off the approved work.
