Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Our Privacy Commitment
At Retick, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We've written this in plain language because we want you to actually understand it — not just scroll past it.
Retick is a video-based UI/UX feedback analysis tool. Because we process your review videos through AI, we want to be especially clear about how that works. If anything here is unclear, email us at privacy@retick.io.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you sign up using Google, GitHub, or Microsoft, we receive basic profile information from your identity provider:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your profile avatar
We never see or store your passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by your chosen provider (Google, GitHub, or Microsoft).
2.2 Content You Upload
When you upload a review video to Retick, we store:
- The video file itself, in Google Cloud Storage
- Keyframe images extracted from your video
- Audio transcripts generated from your video
- Video metadata (filename, duration, file size, upload date)
2.3 AI Processing Data
This is where Retick differs from most services, and we want to be completely transparent:
- We extract still frames (keyframes) from your video at regular intervals.
- We generate a text transcript of your audio commentary.
- These keyframes and transcripts are sent to a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI) for analysis. The AI provider extracts UI/UX issues from the visual and text data.
- Your full video file is never sent to the AI provider — only the extracted keyframes and transcript text.
- The AI provider is contractually bound not to use your data to train their AI models.
- The results returned by the AI (issue titles, descriptions, severity, categories) are stored in our database and associated with your account.
2.4 Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how people use Retick and to improve the product. This includes:
- Pages you visit and features you interact with
- Processing metrics (how long videos take to process, how many issues are extracted)
- Export activity (which tools you export to, how many issues)
- Browser type and operating system
This usage data is collected through privacy-respecting analytics that do not use third-party cookies or track you across other websites. We do not collect personally identifiable information through our analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for these purposes:
- To provide the Service: Processing your videos, extracting issues, and enabling exports to Jira or Linear.
- To improve the product: Understanding which features are used most helps us prioritize what to build next.
- To communicate with you: Sending processing status updates, export confirmations, and account-related notifications.
- To keep the Service secure: Detecting and preventing abuse, monitoring system health, and troubleshooting issues.
- To comply with legal obligations: Responding to valid legal requests or enforcing our Terms of Service.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Where your data lives: All data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure in the United States. We use GCP's built-in encryption for data at rest and in transit.
How long we keep it:
- Active accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Account deletion: When you delete your account, your data enters a 30-day soft-delete period. During this time, you can recover your account. After 30 days, all your data is permanently deleted from our systems.
- Video storage: Videos in cloud storage are archived after 90 days of inactivity and permanently deleted after 365 days.
- AI processing logs: Processing logs (token usage, job duration) are kept for 90 days for monitoring and billing, then deleted.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We only share your data with third parties when it's necessary to provide the Service. Here's exactly who gets what:
| Provider | What We Share | Why |
|---|---|---|
| AI Provider (OpenAI) | Extracted keyframes and transcripts | To analyze videos and extract UI/UX issues |
| Google Cloud | Video files, keyframes, database records | Infrastructure hosting and cloud storage |
| Jira / Linear | Issues you choose to export | Creating tickets in your PM tool |
| Auth Provider | Authentication tokens | Verifying your identity when you sign in |
We never sell your data. We don't share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties beyond what's necessary to run the Service.
6. Your Rights
You have control over your data. Here's what you can do:
- Access your data: View and download your uploaded videos, extracted issues, and account information at any time through the app.
- Correct your data: If any information we have is wrong, update it in your account settings or contact us.
- Delete your data: Delete individual videos, issues, or your entire account. Account deletion follows our 30-day soft-delete process.
- Opt out of communications: Manage notification preferences in your account settings and unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime.
- Control cookies: Use the cookie consent banner or the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer to manage preferences.
- Data portability: Export your issues to Jira and Linear. Need data in another format? Contact us.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@retick.io. We'll respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use two types of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for authentication (keeping you signed in) and security. These are always on — the Service won't work without them.
- Analytics cookies: Optional cookies that help us understand how people use Retick. We only set these if you agree through our cookie consent banner. These are first-party cookies that don't track you across other websites.
Change your cookie preferences anytime via "Cookie Settings" in the footer. Preferences are stored for 12 months.
8. How We Protect Your Data
- Encryption in transit: TLS 1.3 for all browser-to-server traffic.
- Encryption at rest: AES-256 for data on Google Cloud Platform.
- Secure authentication: Managed identity providers — we never handle your passwords directly.
- Access controls: Only authorized personnel access production data. All access is logged and audited.
- Breach notification: If a data breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you by email within 72 hours.
9. Third-Party Services You Connect
When you connect these services to Retick, their privacy policies also apply:
- Jira (Atlassian): Data you export is subject to Atlassian's policy.
- Linear: Data you export is subject to Linear's policy.
- Google, GitHub, Microsoft: Sign-in is subject to each provider's policy.
10. Children's Privacy
Retick is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. International Users
Retick is operated from the United States. If you're using Retick from outside the US, your data is transferred to and stored in the US. By using Retick, you consent to this transfer with appropriate safeguards.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email or through the Service at least 30 days in advance. The "Last updated" date always reflects the most recent version.
